You may leave your comments and your self-assessment results  either here on this guestbook, or, if you prefer, on the
main guestbook on my index page.

I would appreciate finding out  if this graph was helpful. Suggestions are also welcomed for an eventual newer edition.                 (Estimated for year 2030..or maybe sooner)

You may have noticed that no particular way exists for prosopagnosics (and those who are interested in the subject) to discuss how affected we are with PPG. This page and graph is an attempt to remedy this situation.

Though interesting, tests and studies have been created by researchers, tests only measure SOME parts of how the brain processes facial recognition. The tests do not measure the detrimental effects (social, job related, personal relationships, stress, etc. etc.)  that  prosopagnosia has had on your life. For that, you alone are your best judge.

You may grade yourself using the scale below . Keep in mind there are people who are likely more affected by their inability to recognize people than you . Also people who are better at recognizing. Try to be objective . I suggest you take your best guess at how you do in an  "outside, out in the public" situation. Within a more familiar environment, like home and neighborhood, your score should improve.

For instance, normally I'm in the minus 6 or 7 range. However, in familiar circumstances I think I function more like a minus 3 or minus 4. When I was working in sales I often functioned as a minus 7.5 or 8. Sales is definately NOT a job for someone with prosopagnosia !

***Notice that the mean score  is between plus two and minus two. The folks with minus 2 probably just think they are forgetful. They may not suspect their inability to remember faces could be due to a temporal lobe injury or dysfunction.
